Define the capacity question
Internal hiring and an external recruiting partner can each be appropriate. Start by identifying the role’s urgency, specialization, sourcing capacity, hiring-manager availability and the work required to assess candidates.
Compare responsibilities explicitly
Document who owns the brief, outreach, candidate communications, screening, interview scheduling, feedback, reference process and offer coordination. A blended model works best when those handoffs are explicit rather than assumed.
Do not outsource the employer decision
The employer remains responsible for the hiring decision, lawful employment practices, verification and offer approval. A recruiting conversation should make responsibilities and engagement terms clear before work begins.
